A Brief Overview of Summer Camp
3 locations summer 2026 - Canadore forest, Foley forest and Holmstead farm & forest
Age: 4.5 years minimum - your child must have attended JK or be born in 2021 or earlier to attend.
Drop off is between 8:30-9:00 and pick up is between 3:30-4:00. No after hours are offered at any location.
We are closed on Canada Day (July 1) and Civic Holiday (August 3)
We accept a maximum of 22 children at each camp, so ratios of educators to children are low
Our staff are confident and excited to bring your children out in nature, to help them grow and learn more about themselves and the land, developing friendships along the way. All staff are at a minimum first aid and CPR trained with lead staff having Wilderness First Aid. Many have completed or are working towards ECE or teacher certification. Our staff come from a variety of backgrounds and outdoor interests and all love being in nature and working with children.
$325 for a 5-day week, $260 for a 4-day week (holiday weeks).
A nonrefundable $50 deposit (deducted from the total cost) per week holds your child’s spot.
Please note our updated payment options (we offer payment plans!) and cancellation policies below.
We start every day with a gathering circle, where we talk about community agreements, sing songs, share gratitude to the land and make a plan for the day.
Every day is different at Forest School. We let the children decide how our day is structured by following their lead. Tree climbing, pond-dipping and berry picking are often favourite summer activities.
We explore the land around us, sometimes going on day-long hikes or hanging out at our base camp whittling, starting fire with flint and steel, crafting, playing on the slack lines or in the mud kitchen.
In case of extreme weather, every site has a roofed shelter where we wait out the storms with stories, crafts and games.

Is there swimming at PSFS?
No, there is no swimming at any of our locations. We do allow pond dipping, which means children can go up to their knees to catch frogs or minnows, but swimming is not permitted.
Can I take my child out of camp to attend swimming lessons?
We advise against this. Since our days are always different, we never know exactly where we will be in the forest at a certain time. If we are in the middle of a hike or exploring a new place, we cannot have one of our staff members trek back with your child so you can pick them up for swimming. We advise against having swimming lessons during camp time.
What if I need to pick my child up early?
We understand children will occasionally need to be picked up early. Please advise us ahead of time so we are aware, and we will have a staff member walk them back to base camp for you or plan our day to be back early.
Can I send my child for a few days or a partial week?
No. In order to ensure our camps can run smoothly, you must register your child for the full week of camp.
What is the $50 non refundable deposit?
The $50 non refundable deposit is subtracted from the total week’s fees in order to hold your registration. It is applied to each family, each week. For instance, if you sign up 2 children for a week of camp, we ask that you pay $50 within 14 days of registration to secure both children’s spots for that week. If you register a second week we ask for another $50 deposit for that week, etc. You then owe the remaining balance of each week which can be paid through various options below (we have payment plans! ).
